Hi,

My name's Ivan and I live down in Mornington and am keen on geting in to kayak fishing.

I don't actually have a yak yet, but am working on that. If there's anyone in the area with some tips as to what sort of craft suits the conditions down this way, that'd be great. For those who don't know, it can usually be a lil choppy round here and the wind can pick up pretty quick. The current is not as strong as Westernprot though and the beaches can be very rocky.

I weigh 107kg's and am 175cm tall, so I'm not sure if that restricts my choices or not.

Anyway, this is a great forum and looking at the rides some of you guys have its gunna be a hell of a ime for me to stay outta debt!

Tight Lines!

Ivan

Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. Thank you for the great times, the fantastic learning experiences and the many many fish. If you are desperate for the old content of this particular post, it is available below base64 encoded and bzip2 compressed.

Gday Evarn, I'm almost on the peninsula (I'm in Edithvale). As the others have said the Melbourne Mangoes are an informal, friendly bunch of like minded fellas who get together for a paddle and fish every few weeks (although not quite so frequent with the recent cold weather).
We paddle a fair range of different kayaks, your best bet would be to come along and try a few different ones before making your choice. Keep an eye on fishing trips.
