Hi Dallas,

Thanks for the input. Regarding the blackwood, I might suggest you consider a strip built kayak. Shame to cover a blackwood frame with a skin. Lot's of guys building beautiful strip builts with gorgeous wood like that. Suitable timber for a boat of that type if you were to ask me.

Hope you persue it and share some pics as you go.
