Perfect conditions this morning for a paddle and a spot of fishing, just a light w to sw wind. Got down to Seacliff about 8.30am and unloaded my gear only to discover I left my little tackle box with a few lures in at home. I still had a couple squid lures so just squidding was all I was going to do. Nothing was happening at first but I eventually got a couple to get me started. I eventually ended up with ten before I decided to call it quits. The wind did pick up around 11am and I decided to anchor for awhile as I was drifting too fast. I got about 4 more but they then went quiet so I just drifted back to shore and picked up a couple more.
There were lots of yaks closer to shore paddling up to Marino and back. There was a couple guys fishing near Marino Rocks in a blue and yellow yaks, may have been Scupper and Fisher as I've seen their yaks in pictures they've posted. Whoever it was they seemed to be trolling as they kept paddling up and down.

Nice work, I would have tried trolling but like I said I left all my lures at home. I had salt'n'pepper squid tonight, very nice, nothing like fresh squid. I also cooked up the salmon trout I caught on Friday at Wait's. The Wait's trip was disappointing as far as number of fish is concern only ended up with 3 trout and my mate caught 2.
That was me you saw further out in a blue yak, wearing a orange pfd and a red milkcrate on the back of the yak.
Did someone fall out of their yak? when I was watching you guys there was someone in the blue yak.
When do the garfish start to come in this area? The snook like chasing gar so if the snook are around would that mean that the gar are starting to school up?
I read your other post where you mentioned that you used soft plastics, how did you fish with these? Did you just towed them behind you? or do you use a paraplane? I've caught snook over at Streaky using a Yo-zuri minnow lure that dives when trolled and I've used it over near where you were today before but only got a tommy.
Well I guess I know your secret spot now but your secret is safe with me.

Gday Captain - we did a bit of trolling with hard bodies for nil, so just tried the sp's for something different - we just drifted with the wind, trying to keep the sp's close to the bottom - seemed to work well today.

Hi Duncan, I was a Joey Scout leader for a few years and every week we did our little opening ceremony called the Hop. In this ceremony we cited the words Help Other People (HOP), a Joey scout cares and a Joey scout shares, I guess it never really sunk in, sorry.

Brian from memory I think the scouts gave a salute to others with two fingers in a V for victory sign.

Am I right in assuming you've reversed the knuckles in Duncan's case, to change the meaning of the salute?

Be gentle with him, remember Dunc was dunked recently

hi Red,
Do you get a program called "Out of the Blue" it's a couple of South Aussies Michael Angelakis (a fish mongerer) and Michael Keelan (a gardener) visiting seaside locations and cooking up seafood recipes. They have produced a book with the recipes from the show and the salt'n'pepper recipe I use is one of them. The book was just under $10 and I like it because it uses fish species that come from our waters unlike many other seafood recipe books. I guess I would be breaching the copyright if I give the recipe here but it basicly involves marinating the squid in egg, garlic and soy, then dusting the squid with flour mixed with salt, pepper and five spice.
Yummy.
