G'day Squidgie, Welcome aboard mate. (love the handle too)
Mate, I haven't fished Caloundra in years. The bream should be on about now and a good safe launce is golden Beach. I used to catch a lot of bream straight accross from golden beach in my evil youth working the snags along Bribie island.. i have also heard good thngs about the canals there.
If the weather is calm, an off shore option might be the bommie straight out in front of Dickie beach. It is about a mile out and surrounded by pretty deep water. A very good spot for tailer and squire. Watch the swell though. Anything over a metre and the waves can break all over it. If you decide to give this one a go, I would launch at Moffat beach. It is more sheltered and not much further to paddle.
Good luck mate. have a good holliday.
