Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. Thank you for the great times, the fantastic learning experiences and the many many fish. G'day Shaun.

I reckon that there'd be loads of options up your way, especially out round Magnetic Island. I can see a yak fishing camping trip coming up for you! A couple of lazy days spent fishing and yakking round Maggie with a bit of camping thrown in...bewdiful!

thanks for the welcome guys... the options are endless, anything from flathead to tuna around the west point area and as said the camping aint bad either but the only problem I have is that I sometime feel like a dagwood dog ( bit of meat on a stick ) .... those mud gecko's scare the [email protected] outa me.

goddy,I thought I was all alone up here. will have to put a trip together one day.
cdenyer, I stay out wide in the bay ... tends to be less out there & use the tinny in the creeks.
Gatesy, Maggie has everything from sand bars to reef so the options are almost endless.Tuna , cobia , mackeral , trevally through to whiting and flathead depending on the season ...prety much a lucky dip sometimes and to be honest if I miss out on a fish so be it . I still had fun.

How do you get the kayak over to maggie, just paddle out from Palaranda or over on the ferry?

I've never considered useing the ferry always start out from Pallarenda on
the run out tide ( the current runs north towards west point ) so its an easy paddle out. Sometimes put in at Rowes Bay and just fish along the beach a couple of hundred meters out floating pillies and casting metal slugs untill I reach the swimming enclosure then head to the little reef that sits out from where the rocket ship used to be in three mile play ground.
