Thank you TryHard and the "Lady"!
Contacted Tryhard to see if there was a chance of a Yak Fish while I am in Forster, the answer was the freindly YEEEEEEES.
Early start planned, 5:30 in the morning and I felt excited but bleary eyed. The night before I set my Moble alarm to 4:00 in the morning to make sure I was ready. Could I sleep ... nope! I kept waking ever hour looking at my phone "is it time yet ... is it time yet".
Finally woke up feeling I haven't slept at all. Worked my way to little street in Forster to meet an another AKFF Yakker in person for the first time, knowing what the Yak looked like but not the person. After the initial hello and G'day's and we both feeling a little easier we unpack our gear and get ready for a great morning paddle and fish. Loaded up with a couple of poppers recommended by tryhaard and the local tackle shop, thinking this is going to be many firsts for me this morning. Salting my P13, using poppers, hopefully catching fish and making some PB.
After Tryhard introduced me how to work a popper by catching a bream near the launch site, my eyes start widend some more and feeling I was in good hands. One thing I did discover I need to update my rods for more lighter action using poppers. I could only cast 3 meters or so on a 4 gram lure ... make note another trip to the tackle shop, don't tell the boss!
After getting some pratice in we started to head of to some magic spots that tryhard has set for the morning.
First spot, tryhard is giving me instructions ... paddle to the right cast to left just over there ... good cast! YOU got a bream! smile on my face a bream, and its massive 33 cm (PB) and on a popper! Now tryhard gives me the good and the bad news ... "congratulations" and "you are now on your own" and takes the lead. This starting to be a great morning.
Fishing the flats and flkating with the current, casting the popper and concentrating ... come fishy fishy. I look up Tryhard smiles I got a trifecta.
A little later and wee bit of luck ... a Lizard ... a quinella another PB 42 cm Flatty
This was a good morning. We moved to the next spot trying for flatties using soft plastics. The spot seems very quiet and appears to be several untagged crab traps, not looking good boats coming through spooking the fish.
We move on with a bonus  and continue fishing.
Time is rolling on we stop on a sand flat to stretch our legs and notice whitting around us. The Poppers are out, whitting where not interested they where just happy teasing us.
The morning is gone an is about time we paddled back (against the current and wind) with a good morning fishing.
So pics to wet the mouth ...
Tomorrow some bottom bashing (mum's XMAS present) and hopefully another outing with tryhard.
I have been salted!
Merry XAMS
