Hi all
Here are some photos of the mounts I used for my FF and the GPS.
I found that a jar of Body Shop moisturising cream fits perfectly into the cup holder. I mounted the handheld GPS bracket on top of the lid and jammed the bottom part of the container into the hole. The added bonus is I can unscrew the jar and keep in it spare fuses, batteries and cable ties.
The other photo shows how I mounted the transducer on the rudder of the P15. Not aesthetically pleasing, but hey...it works!!
Cheers

Gday Simond11 - looks like a good job. I've got the same type of yak and thought for a brief moment about putting my transducer on the rudder - but thought it might get knocked or collect weed and stuff.
Do you notice any drag with the transducer on the rudder like that? This might be a silly question, but does the signal change when you change direction? - ie the front of the transducer faces a different direction every time you turn.
It also looks like you have the transducer cable coming out of the rear of the deck - how did you manage to seal the hole? My Garmin FF140 has a large connector plug and I don't think I could install it this way.
Well done.

Fisher, cant comment on the cabling but I do run my transducer screwed to my rudder on my P15 on the rare occasions I use the sounder. I haven't noticed any performance issues with either the reception of the sounder or the performance of the P15 while doing it this way.

I also thought about the signal if the transducer was turned. Last night I purposely went in large arcs and did not notice any difference in the reading on the FF.
I passed the cable through the rear of the yak as the plug and cable are small enough. The plug that goes into the back of the FF is 1" in diameter. I sealed the hole with Aquaseal. I also placed it that far up as it would minimise contact with water (it's actually at the same level as the rudder cables).
I did not notice any drag whatsoever and nothing got caught in the transducer. I guess that whatever could potentially catch on the transducer could also catch on the rudder. I am happy with the setup, and just have to get the angle right, otherwise you end up getting only half a fish arch.
Scott, regarding the jar, I have really jammed it in and it won't move. Having said that, I will experiment with a way of ensuring it stays put should I capsize. Was thinking maybe putting Aquaseal around the rim. I never use the bottle holder, but should I want to use it, I can always remove the sealant.
Thanks for your kind comments. I am always envious of how clever our AKFF colleagues are at re-designing and accessorising their yaks, and any positive comments are worthy of being proud of. Thanks.
Cheers

Paul, sorry about the late reply but just got back yesterday.
The Lowrance FF worked great at night. The backlight was easily visible and more than enough to see clearly at night. I used the 200 beam, but admittedly played around with both, not really knowing which one was better. Guess it felt good to at least have a choice. I guess I need to get out on the water with the instruction manual and follow it carefully. The power supply was excellent. Only have a 7amp battery, but it still read close to full after about 4 hours on the water.
Paul, sent you a PM.
Cheers
