Fishermans Beach 09/12 - My first snapper in a yak

Launched around 9am this morning at fishys. There were one or two stinkboats out, but it was hard to see through the haze. The water was flat and there was no wind to even speak of.

I cruised around a bit and got a tiny pinkie just north of the reef. Then I spotted a school of baitfish and followed them south.

All the time I was getting flatties around 25cm with one at 30cm.

Ran into a gentlemen on his Outback, who's name is Eddie. Fished with him for a while, then he headed off home.

I kept working around the baitfish school, but there were only flathead, so I headed south in search of new ground.. Managed to find some very fishy looking water and structure and in no time got 3 flatties over 30cm. Switched to a berkely worm in the pumpkin seed colour and got a pinkie at just over 25cm.

A lot of the plastics got bitten off because i had small heads on them and I think I manged to find some squid stirring up the baitfish.

Next time i'll head out with a couple of squid jigs...

Cheers

Ivan
