Caught this pretty thing in a stinker off Narrabeen a few days ago. Both of us in the boat had never seen this type of fish before.

Any guesses what it is?

Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. Thank you for the great times, the fantastic learning experiences and the many many fish. Female blue devil?

Random guess, not claiming any actual knowledge here!
From diving experiences seeing the occasional one tucked in a cave or hangover it is, indeed the devil fish. Hopefully she got back down safely, threatened species and all.
A rare catch(release) indeed!
