A friend is looking at purchasing one of these, does anyone paddle one and like to give me the good and bad about this model? In particular how does it paddle solo??? It looks like it may be a bit of a challenge?

Thanks Milt,

If you wanna chuck a yak on the roof as a take anywhere, lotsa fun, family reccie vessel, the Feel Free does the job admirably - In the surf they are good fun and there's nothing stopping you from fishing on the odd occasion. They are also nice and light.

The Feel Free isn't a tourer, a surf boat or a fishing boat, it's a sturdy little yak that lets you play around in the drink, take in the sights for an hour or two and not be totally embarrassed about performance.

If I wanted something to muckaround on, I'd choose Feel Free over a Scrambler.

I have a Feelfree Nomad and have been very pleased with it, given it is not a specialised fishing yak. I fish successfully out of it but it does have a few shortcomings, mainly due to being short. The Gemini looks like a stretched Nomad.

I have no complaints about the Nomad, although it leaked around the hatches when I first bought it. It paddles well, rides well in chop, is easy to carry as moulded hand grips, comfortable etc. I trusted it's seaworthiness enough to do an open ocean crossing of 4.5 km (and back).

I think like any double, the Gemini may be hard to paddle solo, but I have never done it so don't know. Can your friend's do a test paddle?

Saw a Gemini on Moreton Bay with 2 up and looked, and was paddling OK, and seemed a bit narrower than the average double and also would load onto roof easier by the lack of bulk
