Managed to sneak out for a few hours thismorning to put the new Prowler Elite through its paces and get a feel for it.
Started trolling a Rapala CD7 and a soft plastic along the deeper sections of the bay and around a few dropoffs and headlands, hoping for a kingfish.
After 5 minutes of paddling, the rod with the hard body bent over and 'I'm on!" A bit of weight and a few good short runs and the new yak had her first fish on board. A nice Tailor of just under 40cm. A quick pic and back she went as I figured that the first fish off the yak must be returned to appease the fish gods 8) Are you listening gods??? I bloody hope so!
Lobbed a few casts in around the same spot but nothing else was doing so kept going and pumped a few nippers/yabbies on the sandflats. After 5 minutes I had 20 or 30 so took off again to drift for some flathead.
Had a bait on one rod and a soft plastic bumping along the bottom, but could not interest any flatties. Plenty of undersize squire though..
Only a quick one today, but glad that the new yak has seen her first fish. Hope its the first of many!
