Here's some shots of my Kaskazi Pelican on it's maiden fishing voyage last weekend up the Taranaki coast. Minimal rigout for fishing as I intend to only use it for trolling and/or day tripping. Blooded the deck with a nice fat Snapper, a couple of tasty Gurnard, and a 2 metre Grey Shark that gave me a good tow around before eventually biting through the trace.

I've still got to install an electric bailing pump as it can get a bit wet in the cockpit after launching through the surf as there are no scupper holes or venturi's installed for drainage.

Very pleased with the performance so far. Light and nimble on the water and with the deep snug cockpit it's easy to brace and control in the rough stuff and in the surf.

Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. Thank you for the great times, the fantastic learning experiences and the many many fish. YakAtak: Yeah the hand pump and sponge do the trick OK, but an electric bailing pump means I won't have to stop paddling while emptying the water.

Red: The length is 4.75 metres and width is 0.62 metres. The weight is a hefty 23Kg's... :D

Dodge: The Pelican is certainly a nice kayak, but I'm still lusting for one of those sleek looking Howe ExtaSea's. 8)

Just a question, hows the legroom for taller paddlers?
Hi Dave, I'm a medium legged 5' 11" and there's still 2 notches of adjustment left to go on the pedal tracks. So, I figure it should take someone up to 6' 2" depending on actual inseam measurement.
