Just reading the modern fishing mag that I bought last night and in the fisheye column there is a photo of a bream caught in what looked like a kayak to me. So I got excited. So then I read the name in the caption and thought, I think Davey G lives in Gymea Bay and I am darn sure his yak is blue. So I have logged on and checked his photobucket pages and sure enough there is the same photo as what is in the mag. The one with the big blue lip bream and lure hanging out it's gob.

Congratulations DaveyG those Shimano 6500B Baitrunners are very nice reels, and not too cheap either!

No there not the cheapist reel around ive been looking around at the price on the B6500 and the cheapist ive found is $225. And that waterprooof drag is great with the reel going to keep pised wet through almost every trip. Oh and damn nice bream to mate. :D

wow...I'm a subscriber to the mag and have also just received it today. to see my pic was a bit of a surprise! I thought I'd submit the pic 'just for the hell of it'.. to win a prize is a bonus.

I've seen plenty of better pics on this site so, perhaps some of you other guys outta have a go as well!

hmmm, better get out and get myself some new 50lb braid, some live yakkas and go hunting big kingfish I think.

will post a pic of the reel when it arrives

well the new reel arrived a week or so ago, first impressions were jeeezuz its big.

much bigger and heavier than I'd expected....actually TOO big and too heavy for my likes. If I was fishing stand up off the rocks or from a stinkboat for big fish 100% of the time it would be perfect... But I'm not...so it's not... bugger :?

I've enquired with my local tackle shop whether they'll exchange it for a smaller (4500 series) Baitrunner spooled with 30lb braid... not sure of the price difference betwen the 2 but I'd rather get something that I'm happy with rather than fish with something that's going to tip my bloody kayak over whenever I put it in the side rod holders... :D :D

Just get stabilisers/outriggers and go for bigger fish, like makos.
