Went out this morning with my mate Kristian hoping for a few trevally as there has been some reports of a few getting caught. Lucked out on getting any though. I ended up boating 3 bream and one flattie, and my mate got two flatties. He kept two flatties for a feed.

3 bream on sp's is a new record for a session for me. Probably would have got more if we weren't out there for a feed. One boat I cast my sp on to saw about 15 fish follow it right back to the yak!!! I was amazed as I had never seen that many fish follow a lure before. Then the boat owner popped his head out and said that they are hook shy and wouldn't hit a lure, had a few more casts and figured he was right. He then chucked some bread in the water and about 30 seconds later it was all gone and the water looked liked it belonged in a boiling kettle, amazing stuff.

Then we saw Shoey having a leisurely paddle. Good to meet you Gerard (I think, I am really bad with names, sorry if I got it wrong) Hope you get a few off Palm Beach tomorrow.

Lures that did the damage today for me were a 3" Gulp Podgy and the ever trusty 3" pumpkinseed minnow.

Also managed to snap my Berkley Dropshot rod  being stupid and trying to save a snagged SP. Snapped off where the two halves join together so no hope of salvaging it.

Great report and photos, pity about the drop shot :?

Amazing that the boat owner knew what they wanted... next time pack a loaf of bread and you may have yourself some Bream sandwhiches :)

Nice fish too, Bream sure are a pretty fish arent they! ( Compared to the Lizards :p )

Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. Thank you for the great times, the fantastic learning experiences and the many many fish. If you are desperate for the old content of this particular post, it is available below base64 encoded and bzip2 compressed.

At least you caught a feed, I went home with Zip! I did release a nice little Bream of about 30cm caught trolling a pink Halco. I didnt make it to Palmy on Monday, however I made it today. Conditions were great and the Spotties were hit and miss. Andrew (fishmatics) and I kept our tally at O, while Stu (spottymac) caught 4 and Duran caght 3  .

Nice to meet you also Wayne and good to catch up with Kristian again.

See you out there again.

Sppoled1 - That's exactly what I am going to doas I don't have the cash to upgrade at the moment. Saw some JW tuff tips in BCF today for $39. Might get one of them for this weekend and see how it performs.

My two cents worth I have had a berkley dropshot for over a year and I flog my gear, I use it out of the yak and as a light spinning rod off the rocks and it is fine mine is rated to 6kg from memory but I have fished it with 30lb line and had no problems. The only rod I have ever snapped under load was a 13'6" pacific composite blank that I was using off the rocks when a kingie made a good last run behind me and bent it too much (I replaced the rod with the same kind). I like the Berkley rods but a few seem to have broken maybe there is a dodgy batch they should replace it under warranty.
Nice fish.
