Got back from KL this morning and too buggered to work so decided for a session on the creek (swell way too big for inshore).
Trolled a MicroMinn that I bought in KL up to the flats and tossed it into a couple of holes in the flats for a couple of hits but no joy.
Plan B was to drift downstream with the wind, while dragging a gulp jerk shad on a large weedless jig and casting gulp sandworms on a 1/32oz jig at the shore. Very quickly got takes on the sandworm. Had cast a whole one at the flats and it was smashed, but no hookup. Drifted under seaanchor and started using half sandworms. Hooked up to a 32cm bream that took a couple of runs. This was my first decent fish off P2 and first for many months so it was returned to Poseidon with thanks.
A bit later the jerk shad was hit hard - almost ripped the berkley holder out of its mount. Unfortunately it didn't hook up (weedless rigs are like that). It does however bode well for the evening session on the 17th.
Lost a pan-sized flatty taken off a smaller flat. Chewed through the 4lb leader. The jerk shad showed repeated attacks from squid - another good omen for the 17th. Will know where to try for live squid.
Threw the MicroMinn out again as I paddled back to the ramp. Was being blown by the wind at around 2-2.5km and picked up a leatherjacket, also set free.
A very pleasant short session and great to break my personal drought. Now to get some for the table
