Hello all,
Well, it was an early start this morning as I wanted to make the most of what I expected to be ideal conditions for snapper fishing.
My wife an I seem to have made packing the car & kayak pretty much an art form and had left before I expected to. We arrived at the VMR boat ramp to boats everywhere!!! My heart began to sink as I could already see more than a few sitting on my spot X.
We were on the water in about 15 minutes - which is pretty quick and away we went. I droped a gold bomber in the water and I am guessing it snagged and busted off, because my drag seized. Ok, not a good day. Line must have got tangled up or something.
We paddled off regardless and I was pretty happy with my new kayaking gloves (pic to be posted). Just as my good lady droped anchor I droped a handline, and straight off the make it ran.
We landed (and released) a nice small squire. Interestingly the fish completly ignored all the SP's I offered them. I do not understand and feel a bit odd about that. However we landed 7 squire (all released) and a juvnile mackeral (?) {pic to be posted}. Some of those Squire were very nearly legal.
There was another kayak fisho who hovered around, chatted to him for a few minuted (a lime/yellow SIK).
We got a real buzz out of the trip this morning, pretty gentle - not TGO conditions by any means - but pretty good.
It was funny because a guy came back to the ramp about the same time as us. We chatted briefly, his boat cost him around $70 grand - and he did worse than us.........
