Been thinking bout making up some outriggers for the yak to give it a little more stability from side to side. I was also going to attach wheels to them so I can use it as a cart as well. It would have fully adjustable arms for the outriggers and attachable wheels for the cart you could pull off when you reach the water, then just fold out the arms with the float attached to use as out riggers. The whole lot would fold back onto the yak for transpotation or when not in use.
What do you all think, a good idea or not.

Sounds like a great idea, i have been thinking along the same lines for my sit in sea kayak, would certainly make it more versatile and usable as is the case with John on this forum with his great canoe

Sounds like a good idea. Getting hinges that can fold both ways and handle the weight could be one issue. I've got a plan for some outriggers for my SIK but can't find anything suitable for the floats.

I've seen the ones that were made from RAM mounts, but can't find them is Aus.

Simple pin hinge should do the trick.

I was also thinkig bout using large pump up wheels and using these as the float, but would only deploy them once at rest, and fold em up on top of the yak when underway. I only need to make the yak slightly more stable when I fish, and the less drag when under way the better

All I would have to do back at the boat ramp, is push a spring loaded clip to unlock it from outrigger position, then lift the back of the yak for the wheels to swing down and automaticly lock in to place.

When I finish the prototype I will post a pic.
