hi ant, i did catch carp on fly on the surface .i was using a bread fly it was fun. just through in some bread and your fly next to it that's it. good luck Milan

I have also taken them on a bread fly when I use to fly fish for mullet. A mate would get them on small drys when the carp were filter feeding on the surface. He would lay the fly just in front of them (he was a bloody good fly caster) and they would suck it in when filter feeding the surface scum. It was debatable whether they were actually attempting to eat the fly or it was just getting sucked in with the surrounding water but he had some huge fights on the 4wt with them.

Gday Leftiant - not sure about surface lures, but theres quite a few caught here in SA on the smaller wobbler lures intended for callop. By all accounts they hit them pretty hard too.

In my experiance Crap (whoops Carp) will go for lures if they are hungry.....Carp around Canberra are certaintly taking more lures and SP's than in previous years, I suspect the drought of course.

I am getting into a bit more surface lure action latley, will let you know if a carp happens to hit it.
