Hey all,

My canoe has finally been brought up into QLD, so will be getting it ready to get out onto the water til the boat is finished Also gotta think of a name for it (It's a glass one)

Anyway, just curious as to what ideas people have for fitting out a canoe... The plans I am thinking of at the moment are:-

Electric Motor
Esky with aerator (To use as live bait tank or livewell depending on fishing)
Rod Holders
Cheap Sounder

Am curious if anyone else has any ideas... If you have any pics that would be great (I will post some when I get it from the Sunny Coast).

Lookout canals & creeks!

Will have to catch up mate. Not sure about this weekend as I may be fishing... (I mean working) in Cairns

Keen to see those holders though... I've got a few ideas, but am interested to see how other people set there's up too.

A little more info - It's a fibreglass canoe that's the "covered in" canadian style. (I don't know the technical names for it  ). Has a seat at the back, seat at teh front, and an open area in the middle.

Cheers,
Dan

G'day Dan,

here is how I have rigged my swampgirl - so far. I'm not really into leccy motors and electronics and such. I try to keep things pretty simple. - a bar across the middle with a couple of berkley rodholders and a ice box.

I have a small tackle box which I modified so it clips into what was a water bottle holder in front of the seat, under about where my knees go. If I roll the yak, the box won't fall out. Also, I have a bungee cord tied to the front which I push my landing net under to hold it in place on the front deck.

Electric moters and batteries are heavy things to have to paddle around with. I try reduce the weight in the yak :D .

Thanks fellas.

I wanted to pick it up the other day, but unfortunately the old man wants to take the Grandkids paddling in it first...

So will hopefully get it soon. Forgot to get photos of it too.... (Idiot!)

I don't have the cash for the leccy yet anyway, so that won't be going in for a while. Besides which, I need the exercise! I am looking at a sounder though that I am getting pretty cheap, so will be installing that. It's an Eagle Fish Easy 2 (Same as a Lowrance x51) and is a good price. It's good enough that I would probably keep it if I ever got a cheap tinnie or something later on...
