They're both sit insides as far as I'm aware.
The Bass is similar to the Perception Minnow (as I recall) and doesn't look to be an option for fitting an after market hatch... certainly not anything sizeable.
I think you'll be in the same position with the Barra.
If your friend wants a sit inside with a dry hatch (sealed bulkhead) area he/she might want to look at something like the Perception 370 Acadia.
