I have finally mounted my Humminbird sounder, and all I need to do now is place and secure the transducer.

I planned to go on monday and buy some Sikaflex ( working all weekend), but at work today I came across a box of Sixaflex in 600ml tubes. It is labelled as Construction (J) and is concrete grey in colour.

Not sure whether it is suitable or do I need to go and buy the white or black stuff normally used in yakking applications?

Thanks Peril,

Yes, maybe the tube I have shouldn't be used for the purpose I want it for.

But.... seeing as it is a large tube I will go and test it out on something and see how it goes. If it doesn't work out, well I will stick to my original plan and get the right stuff at Whitworths.

I noticed you can buy Sikaflex from Bunnings which may be cheaper than Whitworths... I didn't want the full tube so bought a small tube of Selley's clear silicone (used for aquariums) which I think Dodge has used successfully.. Can't report on it yet but hoping to give the sounder a test run this weekend.

Unless there is warning on the work one about not suitable with plastic I think I would give it a go, the price is right, if it fails to bond with the yak it will only peel off, and then you get another brand and redo.

Most important thing in my opinion is let it set a number of days to fully cure
