I've been using a small butane cartridge stove for overnite trips but find it a little too bulky and worried it wont work if sent for a swim. Just wondering what others use to save a little space and weight .
Cheers,
Heno.

Hey Shaun, I think Richo has a neat little hiking stove that runs off fire lighters or kero, most camping stores have some good little options.
Yes its the Simon big as your fist when folded up and mine has been in the drink already while bushwalking, and is bullet proof just a bit slower being a metho job.

The Simon was wiped out with a towel, filled with metho and going in a minute or two after dunking.

A mate's MSR whisperlite [top gear] failed until serviced at home

the little pocket rockets are great too! but not really waterproof, you can get it wet, but they need to dry. They use the mini gas containers. I get set up for around $50. The burner unit is very small, and both the gas bottle and burner fit inside a small size billy for transport. I will take a photo of it tonight and post it back here. I got the burner from kathmandu on a 50% off sale, but shopping around you can get all types.....i got it for hiking, but will be used for camping weekends on the yak also.

edit....found this in a catalouge I have, mine is similar, different brand, the cooker folds up nice and small and replacement gas is about $5 per can, they have bigger sizes too, and I use a fry pan on mine too, mainly the billy though.

One tip Heno don't put your billy on the stove until the flames come out the side jets or it goes out
