G'fay fellas, new to the forum

I just bought a Viking Espri with the idea of using it for bass but my shifts mean I might be able to fit in some shorter trips in the salt on estauries/creeks around Brisbane northside.

I'm after some pointers on decent locations; I've had the refedex out and am looking at Nundah Creek and Hays Inlet etc but not sure how they fish? Obviously somewhere a bit out of the way is a bonus for the wildlife and the lack of jet skiers :x

Any help much appreciated

Cheers

Ben

Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. Thank you for the great times, the fantastic learning experiences and the many many fish. Thanks fellas. Actually got a book today which is called "Where to paddle in se Qld" or something like it and it has some good info about creeks heading off Pumicestone passage and the like. I think Bells Creek was one? Anyway, will get out in the next week and start exploring.

I'm guessing lizards will be the target out there but my plastics fishing so far has been hit and miss. do I want to get on a good drift and hop it along or cast and retrieve into likely spots while trying to keep the yak steady?

Yakatak, still up for that Wivenhoe trip ...

That book sounds interesting, love to have a look at a copy of that some time.
I'm not too keen on Wivenhoe at the moment, too many catfish, but somerset is producing some good bass, I got 3 nice fish around the spit on tuesday morning.
Re: lizards. drifting could be a good plan if you can get a nice steady/slow drift and just twitch the plastic over a nice sandy flat. I usually do this, or I anchor within casting distance of a likely snag or run off of from mangrove flats and cast around using a lift and twitch retrieve. Go the gulps. ;)

Thanks Karl. I scored some of those gulps, pumpkinseed (ie brown) three-inchers with the curly tail. would they be any good? as for anchors, well I don't have one. what sort of set up would I need?

On the bass trip, that book has a fair bit of detail about brisbane river around lowood/fernvale etc as well which must be worth a try. sounds like its full of fallen timber etc.

sorry about all the questions

:)

Ben, if you're interested we can catch up for a Pine or Hayes session as soon as I've got the new Yak sorted. We should still be able to hook some good flatties on plastics. We've been getting mostly 50+ cm while wading this season. Send me a pm if keen.
