·I was fishing out of my favorite salmon spot yesterday arvo when one of the fishing charter boats (gamerec) - which must have been having a slow day - got desperate and veered from its course to see what I was doing. Inadvertantly, I had a double hook up on the go when they got there (the 2nd striking while they watched) so as you can imagine, they decided to hang around.
This normally wouldn't bother me a hell of a lot, but the skipper of the boat demonstrated no regard for safety whatsoever. It really was quite amazing how close he continued to trawl to where I was fishing. I actually had to paddle out of its way numerous times... and I got there first.
The most annoying thing about this is that there was miles of beach for it to cover, but no - it kept working the 60 - 70 meter area I was paddling in. How creative!
Justice was swift, however, because for the hour or so it remained, I actually hooked up more fish than the entire boat load of chartees. Hehe... mung beans.
The morals of the story are: 1: if for any reason you decide to go on a charter in PPB, don't use Gamerec because it appears to me as if the skipper has no idea what he's doing. 2: why go on a charter when you have a yak anyway?
