Good report Ken. I'll have to follow you to those kelp beds next time. Can't know too many squid spots.

BTW, the other head sounds like Dobroyd Head. Reputed to hold kings at times.

Hi Ken,

Sounds as if the moorings were more prductive than the rest of the trip. Have you ever berleyed from the boat down at Balmoral. Have hit some good trevally amongst the moorings during my last outings from there, I think Gatesy got a PB silver trev on a recent trip out of Balmoral also.

I was surprised that you didnt get any tailor off the knuckle of the Naval Wharf there seemed to be something holding them there as long as the sun was not on the water.

I was interested in the Kingie comment, one of those would be a real handfull in the moorings thats for sure.

Nice report - Sambos are good fun.

For the squid ink you can try two things: Create a cool looking stencil for the yak and face the squid right at it for five seconds

or when you get home give it a wipe with steelo and Jif.

It was a great morning to be back out on the water after such miserable weather we've had lately..

It was nice to see some new faces out on the water this morning along with the regular crew (JT, Kraley, Sbd,) we had charlie on the adventure Dean on his prowler, Paul on the outfitter with co pilot Tara .... and one other on a bright orange kayak (sorry forgot name)

We headed around past the naval base trolling 2 sx 40 with no luck, then moved in towards obelisk bay where i set an anchor and paul and tara rafted up next to me and baited up with some fresh squid we then proceeded to catch small snapper (undersize) Sergent baker, and a unidentified that I got a pic of on pauls camera (hopefully he can post it up here), after about an hr we pulled the anchor and headed back towards the naval base to fish around the wharf.
We managed plenty of small fish again but also 3 good size yellow tail. (Tara's PB)

We pulled the pin at around 1030 after nearly 5hrs out and now looks like we may have hooked tara on the sport, Tara asked me to pass on a big thankyou to Paul for taking on a new crew for the day and to the rest of the boys for the warm welcome.

See you all next trip,
Pauly.
