does any one have any comment on the viking nemo. i am only 14 and know exactly what i can do re: rod holders/storage but dont want a u-beaut yak and have a budget of no more than $1200. however this must include everything eg; roof racks, rod holders, yak.

I tried one yesterday for the first time and was very impressed. Only reason I am not considering one is the capacity which is 130kg, I weigh 110 plus tackle so I will probably go for an Espri.
My opinion and I dont have a yak yet is its seems to be great value.

Crikey mitch 1200 will get you alot more than a nemo. Even if you get an espri fairly cheap you would have plenty left. It's worth looking around.

I think the new wavedance kingfisher will be around the 800 mark without rudder.

The Viking was my starter kayak and I think it's great for that purpose. For the size it's very stable and at your age will be more than big enough. I now have a bigger kayak but a friend of mine borrows my Nemo when we go out and he's taken it several kilometers offshore in up to 2 metre waves and he had no real concerns about his saftey or abiltity to stay onboard.

Three topics ago in this forum this is a question on deformed hull. Its actually about a espri on ebay for $500. Might be worth a look. I've asked the seller a question on the hull but havn't recieved a reply yet.

Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. Thank you for the great times, the fantastic learning experiences and the many many fish. Hi Mitch and welcome.

Being only 14 you will grow both in size, and in your fishing challenges, and considering these factors I would suggest the longest yak that your budget will permit, and that may save a kayak upgrade later.

hey mitch, hows it going champion , how lucky are you , loving fishing and paddling as well , people dont usally come to this wisdom till there much older, champ, i would look at an espri, its longer and faster and would be nicer to paddle and you can buy one new with 2 rod holders , seat , paddle holder and handle for $1000.00, and they look really smick, good on you champion :D :D :D :D :D
