Already having cut down a trolley to take to Cressbrook, after another think figured a scupper cart would be easy to build off the same base.

And built 'Monstrosity Mk 1' on the frame, its a 3 x1 timber with 2 lengths of broom handle, and attached to the the steel with 4 zips, and more zips to attach 1/2 pool noodles, for protection...other than the trolley the rest was laying around my shed

A race around the street under the Swing, and a few 360s showed scupper carts are the way to go [as occy said in another post] and should have done it months ago.

This one is like a brick s***house, but the Mark 2 will be a baby by comparison and I already have golf cart wheels

Hi Dodge,
Love your work. i am looking at building a couple of trolleys myself but I am sure I read that we shouldn't use the scupper holes for transporting the swing (I may be wrong)if any one can clear this up I would appreciate it. :D

I avoided scupper carts because of my fear of damaging scuppers also, then one of the kiwi members with a swing said he was launching a fully loaded one on a regular basis for months without any problems, also the hobie blokes all use them as do others on the forum.

On loose dry sand I might put a girth strap around yak and cart but no need on firm ground

Having built the 'monstrosity' I find the keel is carrying the load anyway on the wooden bar and the scuppers are only locating the cart and don't appear to be under stress.

My test run was with 4 concrete blocks loaded [exceeding any load I carry] and felt great and at a comfortable height to pull, also found I can insert the cart on dry land before loading gear in the yak and will remove at the waters edge so it wont be dunked.

I have no doubts about the principle of scupper carts now WABW

Gunston...Chris ring me half an before getting home Friday and will see you with esky and cart

I contacted Perception NZ when I was designing my cart as I had read all over the Net that "Never use the scuppers".

Perception NZ stated that "We use them all the time"

So I designed mine to slot into the scuppers and also supported in the groove between them.

Have carted the Yak fully loaded (albeit nervously the first time) with this and no ill-effects... your mileage may vary

Only improvement I would make on Yakkart MK1 would be to widen the wheelbase as I have exceeded centre of gravity on a sand dune - most embarrassing.

Thing I love above this one is that the whole kit pulls apart and fits in the rear hatch - Did I mention it's only 1200 grams? :D

(Blowing 90+ km/Hr at the moment - could be in for some good fishing when it stops)

Thanks for putting that back up, it was picture 26 in your album that you had included in your first post that originally convinced me to head the scupper way.

I'm going to build another lighter version but only use the 2 rear scuppers with the keel taking the weight and not concerned with folding it up inside the yak

Sorry I couldn't remember you by name from the original post, but I am a senile old bastard these days mate  ...all the best across the puddle
