Ambrose's Swing and Ozzie

3594 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Ambrose
Here are a couple of pics my Swing and my old Ozzie.
The swing is fitted with 2 rear flush mount rod holders plus 1 on the left side. The sounder is an Eagle Cuda 128 that is powered by a 12v cordless drill battery. The crate had to be cut down a little so it fits into the Swings rear tankwell.
The Ozzie had a similar setup except the sounder was mounted onto a removable board. It also had a Berkley rod holder near my left foot.

No problem Red, the rod holder on the Ozzie is removable.
Hi Ambrose, I like your taste in kayaks

Cordless Drill Battery? Never thought of that, very clever.

Do you simply wire it up as neg to Neg and Positive to Positive? How long does the charge last?

Yeah it's as simple as that to wire it up.
The battery charge is surprisingly good, when I was testing it ran for 6hrs in demo mode and then I turned it off.

Ripper. What was the brand? I might think about something very similar for the espri, I reckon.

The rod holder is made by Berkley and I think it's called a 'Quick Set'
The only problem is where it is mounted on the side of the Ozzie (is that called the gunwhale?) is not a flat surface so I had to make the rod holder mount curved aslo. I guess the Espri is the same.I used a grinder to get the curve and then made a gasket out of a cork material to make sure it was waterproof.
