Simond11 and I had a leisurely session on Coal & Candle Ck this afternoon.

I hooked up early tossing an sp in a small bay across from Akuna Bay. Got sight of a flounder, a new species for me, but it spat the hook.

Simon decided to fish the deeper water in the creek proper while I head up to the flats for the high tide. Dragged the sp behind me while I chucked a popper around for nix. Could see blackfish and a few bream and there were tailor busting up the hardyheads but nothing wanted my popper. Eventually changed to diving minnows for nothing. The water was gin clear so the fish, except for the tailor, were not agressive.

Simon caught up with me and sat off the dropoff pulling in a few lizards, using pillies. He had earlier caught a keeper tailor on sps in the deeper water.

I eventually put on an SX40 and very quickly go an undersized flatty. But that was it. We headed in shortly before dusk.

We discussed having an evening/night session up there sometime soon. Get on the water before dusk and see if we can get some livies and put them down for jew. I might try throwing around some poppers in the dark. Would be amazing down there on a balmy moonlit night.

Dave seems you and Simon had a tranquil outing, find clear is always a curse so maybe the system needs a good flush of fresh to wake it up again, but so rare these days, and glad to see the SX40 produced as usual.

Spent a number of nights on C&C when younger and certainly a great place, but it's the quiet there at night that impacted on me and mates

The water being so clear would have been awesome for paddling around on. Pity about the flounder, from what I recall of having caught one on bait, a nice eating fish. Overall, seems like a very relaxing day.

Ever tried unweighted bread aimed at blackfish in shallow/clear water Dave? I haven't, but the locals at Conjola reckoned that it was working nicely for them last week.

I haven't Red. However one of the best blackfish baits is right there (funny about that). Loads of nippers. Would make an interesting trip to take the yabby pump up there at low tide and see if I can put some in the live well
