Howdy all, have managed to score a part in a job ( construction ) to kick off early November in an island group up off the tip of Arnhem land. The Wessel Islands. Will be up there for the whole month with the opportunity of lots of time for fishing. No unfortunately Hobart will be staying home in the garage! However, as I`ve never fished much out of Victoria even I know that there is a lot to learn.
Ive been putting some new rod/ reel combos together but now comes the hard part. Am considering 30lb braid on the reels. Does this seem OK? Am happy to give the fish up there a sporting chance but dont want to lose all my spares in the first week. Also lures, any suggestions, as I have no idea? Steve.

Ho Steve, you lucky bugger! :D :D

Think BIG, :D Cotton cordells, nillsmaster invincibles, Bombers 7 and some big poppers. and PLENTY of them. if you have any left at the end of the trip, you will have no trouble selling them. :D

I like the blue & white ones, perhaps, with a splash of red somewhere.

Oh, and take wire Lots of big toothy critters there. :D

oh,oh, :D Take some big hooks too, minimum 4/0 for when you run out of lures :D

Good luck mate.

Don't know if you realise what you're in for. If you're stopping by Perth on the way through, check out Bluewater tackle (many stores throughout metro) and Campbells pro tackle in Leederville - Campbells have a website and sell stuff on line - give them a call
