Knocked off work early today after a particularly hard couple of weeks so grabbed the kids from Day-Care and took them out to Millers Lake.
They played and swam while I fished from the yak.
I landed a decent rainbow early.



Then I tried some fly fishing.







I'm not sure I see the challenge?

Some loons joined me.



I got a couple of good hits and landed 3 of this years stockers. They've grown a fair bit since I last saw them and would be in the 20's now I reckon.

Kids had fun, I had fun. Happy Independence Day.

It's nice to keep up with your adventures. Are there any other yak fishers in your area? Surely there must be, given the freshwater fishing opportunities, for half the year, anyway.

Loved the dragon fly porn. That aside it looks like you get on to some quality fish in those parts. A very healthy and fat looking rainbow. Glad that July 4 was good for you.

Hi Kev.
Yak and canoe fishing is quite big here. Lots of rivers and no motor lakes.
Most people either fish bait or fly though, not a lot of lure fishermen here.
The boyfriend of a girl from work is a yak fly fisherman and we are supposed to try and catch up this weekend. I'm working 6 days a week so sundays are usually family day right now but have this weekend off.
Boys are doing great, they both want to move here permanently.

Not to be pedantic, but I can't help myself.
Those are damselflies.

Loons can be almost creepy with their forlorn cries echoing over the lakes at night.

Did you catch any walleye, yet? Better to eat than some stocker trote.
