Marine Toggle Switch wiring (Hobie Livewell)

Postby ohagas » Tue Apr 22, 2014 11:04 pm

I picked up one of these switches from Jaycar: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.as ... BCATID=448 to replace the corroded one on the Hobie Livewell.
It has a red wire and a yellow wire for connection. The pump on the livewell has a brown wire and a black wire. What's the correct way of fitting this switch?

Thanks Cav, that's exactly what I thought. It just acts as a simple circuit breaker.
I saw the same switch on KFDU: http://www.kfdu.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=27419 but if you look at the 3rd photo Gazza has connected red and yellow from the switch to brown and black of the power cable. Can't understand why he did that?

One last question, if it acts as a simple circuit breaker, does it actually matter when you fit it inline whether you put it on the positive or negative?
