I've got the 300c on my pro fisha very good value for money in my opinion. Mine is mounted in the hatch lid with the tranny siloconed in an inspection hatch, works well for me. For 200 bucks if you're just using it to find bait balls, structure, depths and not to count the stripes on your tiger shark, you wont be disappointed.

I got a 300c and have caught an almost legal fish this week. I look at it sometimes and wonder what all the stuff means. It has buttons for pressing and stuff. I am confident that it does not make me a worse fisherman.

Been using them foe a couple of years now pretty robust unit, never really spotted any arches on it yet though.
Someday I'll have money, money isn't easy come by, by the time its come by, I'll be gone!

I don't understand how the Garmin will be any different for you problem than the Lowrance.
