I reversed polarity on a sounder once, and never caught a thing.
It's like the fish knew I was there!

this is probably a bit late i realize but most electronics that go into boats are there for relatively long periods,so the issue of reversed polarity doesn't rear it's ugly head too often.it's us kayakers who are constantly connecting and disconnecting our electronics that have the issues.install diodes of the right order and correct polarity in your the leads to your electronics and your electronics will be protected.regards,mangoinorange.
