Hi Guys,

I haven't been on the forum for quite a while, been too busy in the shop.

I thought I would share the New Motor Mount from DEEMA Rod Holders. These motor mounts are made to fit just about any Yak that has rod holders installed, as it fits directly into the holder in your yak. If you don't have rod holder fitted then it's a cinch to put them in.

I mounted this one in an Extreme FISH BANDIT. You will note in the pics that you don't loose your rod holders, as they are replace by 2 stainless rod holders on each side. It also has 2 more holders - 1 for your Gaff and 1 for a Net etc. Deema have really put some thought into these.

I have mounted a Jarvis Walker T18 electric which pushes the yak along nicely.

Next week I should have some photo's of the Motor Mount on a Hobie yak - " Now thats interesting isn't it"

Also I plan to mount it on MY OUTLAW and I intend to run a petrol 3.5 HP motor. So stay tuned for some interesting looney antics.

Am curious as to why an electric mount on a Hobie is so interesting?

I have seen several electric mounts on Hobies.....I am assuming this one does something or is more functional than others around?

The mount via rod holders is a little different I guess.....seems like a reasonable idea if they are still able to be used as rod holders.

Not sure why you need to comment on Motor Mount on a Hoobie???

I gues my comment was because HOBIE'S are usually paddled by foot pedals, AND I don't Think Hobie like to see pimped yaks that are not their idea ;-)

Thought there was going to be a twist to it - electrics on Hobies are not new hence your comment raised my curiosity. Strangely enough despite the pedal option there is quite a bit of interest in use of electrics of Hobies for a multitude of reasons. One of the most common ones I encounter are people who love the Hobie hull for one reason or another, but have ailments that affect their knees etc....So seek an electric option to assist.

I don't think Hobie have a problem with people pimping their yaks though...Not from my experience anyway

Look forward to seeing how the mount goes on a Hobie - particularly interested seeing how it may go on a Pro Angler.

Hi crashtest I'm new to the forums... I am a proud new owner of the Dema Motor Mount you posted and have fitted it to my outlaw.. Went out today for the first time and was terrific! Easy to install, functions very well and will last forever! It was cheaper than the battery i chose. While on Batterys, I went with a "OPTIMA YELLOW TOP" DEEP CYCLCE AND STARTING D5R. I am extreamly dissapointed with it, it lasted maybe 3hrs then bam, nothing. No wind down or warning just went flat and refused to run it. Battery world at Kippa Ring have some explaining to do tomorrow since they told me it would last 8 hrs plus running a 34pnd White Snake..

Anyway, just wanted to say that the mount is a treat and with all the extra storage(Net,)( Gaff), it made for a great trip.. 1 4.2kg Snapper on a soft plastic (Berkly Camo) and a 70cm Flathead on the drift with a pilly... Tight Lines all OH and not a single shark in sight... ALL GooD

Googled it but cant find a "Dema Motor Mount"

Hi Joe,

I paid $359.00

Its made from Marine Stainless, has the highest quailty fittings I've only ever seen on big flash boats and it has a Net Holder, Gaff holder, and 2 rod holders.. Truely rocks.. I love mine.. Just went out and removed it from my yak and it came off in under 1 minute! Took me 5 to fit it!

The Company that makes them are called Dema Rod Holders. They have a website on the box www.rodholder.com.au but it isn't up on the site for some reason. They have plenty of rod holders up there though.. Hope this helped..

or try Anaconda at morayfeild.. that's where i got mine..

P.S they only had 1 left at Anaconda so ring ahead i guess..

You ARE correct. A Kayak is still a "BOAT"
