After reading Drew and Andrew's weekend reports,I felt compelled to try and catch something.Nice calm day with some sunshine and a bit of swell .Thought I would soak some squid legs for a while .Nothing startling but one nice whiting.
I have been trying to catch a Bream in the Cygnet river lately without success but did catch some mullet on a soft plastic which was something new.

45 and 35 for a KGW and a mullet respectively is pretty decent, certainly worth a paddle. How'd you present the plastic to the mullet?

I used a 1 inch damiki grub. The fish were rising like trout and were quite hard to catch.

Nice catch Russell - esp that 45cm KGW - we don't get them that size on the main land - and I bet yours didn't crap on you either !

Top effort on the mullet on soft plastics something worth putting some time into especially if you can tempt the big sea mullet - they are yellow eyed aren't they ? The best ones to eat I reckon . Any chance of a pic of this Damiki grub you used on the mullet and were they caught in the open ocean or estuary ? Cheers Pat.

Caught in the entrance to the sea.The grubs are popular with the bream.
