No way Paff, it went off its tits. What was completely strange was the constant real aggressive diving. I guess she just wanted to get home to the bottom which was very weedy. Was chucking up a yabby when I got her up. Fat as.

Thats a beautiful day on the water. Some nice scenery too. Jindabynes just a name to me but you make it sound like a trout filled fishing mecca. Those trout look bloody nice too.

Hi Guys, thanks for the comments:

Nice Surfie ... I see what you did there

Thanks Stippy, most kind.

John D (my Trout fishing sensei) agrees, he's only seen them much smaller. Its truly great to see one in this condition and breeding. Just a fantastic experience for me.

Get your guts down here Liam! The hub is where it at ;-) Yes Lake Jindabyne is fishing like a champ at the moment, speaking to some locals.

That said, there were two stinkys at the Kalkite "ramp" (its not a ramp just a hard gravel patch) were complaining about how hard it had been on the morning and that "no bastard's catching anything - all the fish are down" etc etc. At which point I got the fish out of the Livewell and started taking photos on the brag mat.

heh heh heh ....

A couple of more photos:

Thats the disastrous photo I mentioned on the brag mat in the Yak. At least it tells you how long the Brookie was, kind of. How do you blokes take good photos of fish on brag mats in Yaks? I completely suck at it.

Another shot of the kind of morning it was .... it did go to shite shortly after though.

Cheers

Lovely Brookie Geoff. Have caught a few, but that one is the best I have seen.

Cheers

Wow... now I'm convinced it was a special fish Dave - if you haven't seen them that big then I'm a happy camper. Cheers.

Thanks Paddy, one out of the box that day. Taught me quite a few things too which is always an added bonus.

I had a feeling the feet in the water option isn't often practised down there! Incidentally how does the PA cope with icebergs...

Its always nice to see a good fish on a brag mat. Especially that one!

Easy, I just ram them and they crumble ... come on ... its a PA dude!!!! 8)

Funny you say that though, I was saying to Squidder in a phone call on the way home that it was the first time I've fished with about 2mm of Ice on my Yak  It covered the front hatch completely and half way down the mounting boards. I was going to take a photo of it but just couldn't get quite the right angle to show it perfectly.

Gee even looking at the couple of scenic shots of the lake caused a shiver mate.

Nice to see the mix of trout varieties and along with cod are some of the prettiest patterned fish you can land I feel, and no surprise to see the MicroMin did the job being a great all round lure.

Results like that leave you contented but keen for another round on the water.

Its all about layers you wear Liam, the thinner and more efficient the better in the Kayak. I actually think I have a combination, or a variety of combinations now that work pretty darned will to be honest.

Thanks very much Dodge. And yeah ... this was my first outing to Jindabyne in the Kayak even after reading all of great fisho's Squidder's and Paffoh's success over the years. It most certainly won't be my last - in fact - I think the PA will be coming with me for the week of Trout Fest this year. On glassy day's I'm thinking there's no more suitable platform.

Now Gee I don't mean to cast aspersions on this concept of layers. But I just wear a sleeveless vest under my pfd in winter... :) shorts are still good too. Sometimes a swim at the end to wash off the sweat!!!

In all seriousness though those pics are truly beatiful. It's something I've never experienced, extreme cold that is. But it is picturesque.
