QLD: Cracker morning at Palmy

Postby ant » Fri May 11, 2012 11:49 am

As the title describes it was a cracker of a morning at Palmy. My fishing buddy Carnster was a no show with a few late starters in Nick and Nico. Small swell and light offshore breeze it doesn't get any better. Had the pink skirts on with the pillies and was touched up before I reached the reef but no hook up   . Paddled across to the gravel patch and on the way whizzzzzzzzzzzzz :D :D a nice spaniard hit hard and kept me occupied for 15mins guessing I'd say he was about 8 - 10 kg I released him to fight another day. About 10 mins later whizzzzzzzzzzz :D :D a nice spottie on board for the missus. Paddled back to Palmy reef whizzzzzzzzzzz :D :D more spotties. So the morning was a cracker with the total 1 Spanaird 6 spotties with me keeping 4 spotties which well and truly fills the freezer. I would suggest anyone keen tomorrow will be similar get out there and get yourself a fish the swell is small and the tide and weather are great.

I would be interested in having a first attempt tomorrow given the conditions being so ideal. Have spent plenty of time on a goat boat growing up, but I expect that a kayak is going to handle very differently.

What kind of distances do you normally cover in a session? Do you just troll or bottom bash as well? Would someone be prepared to hold a newbie's hand? Where and when?

Ant, what a haul, great fishing mate. I am so green with envy, particularly when you can afford to let 10kg Spaniards go!!

Ant,

Great catch again Ant. :D

You had me. I was already to abandon my plans to hit Brays up tomorrow for Tuna. Then I remembered I had to pop into see Mum at Redcliffe and let her see her son at some point on Mum's day weekend, maybe give her some fish too. Easier to do that coming back from sunny coast then goldy. If you can arrange for the same conditions and fish to be there next weekend though I'd really appreciate it. :D
Cheers

I'll see you ladies on the water in the morning. It will be good to forget this bloody week from hell.

Will be putting an extra 100m of braid on each reel just in case a big pedro or who take a liking to my skirt  .

Ant, you let go of a spaniard?? You mustn't be feeling well. Nice work otherwise. Might see you in the morning.
