Never underestimate those curly tail grub type lures. The first ever fish I caught on one of those was a respectable barra. I'd lost all my hard bodies and they guy I was fishing with was using those. I laughed because you could buy them at the local servo for about $2 a bag (they bagged them themselves).

They may not be flavour of the month but they catch fish just the same.

Those grub curly tails were my first SPs too.
Get a couple of colours of them in so different sizes and get some hidden weight jig heads and their dynamite!

Pepper spots and change every so often and you will be laughing.

What size is that hardbody lure? And defs change those hooks.

As many have already atested, fishing with lures is one of the greatest angling methods. Being politically correct there, sorry, IT IS the greatest angling method. I use small stainless steel clips instead of snap swivels now. Have never looked back once I tried them. Well done on your first lure caught fish, the first of many I'm sure. :D

Caught my first flathead today, went out to naroo near pelican, paddled across to the islands in the channel/dropover area and drifted down thru the islands over the sand banks and was using a soft plastic lure, a nice 40 cm sand flathead.
