The swell is still hanging in there.
there's a good little spot to launch rite in the southern corner of moffs apart from that there's a good shore dump.
The boat ramp at high tide has the sets breaking wide but through the lull it looks easy but when the tide gets abit lower there's a lot more waves breaking wide so coming in mite be tricky.
I got a couple of photos but the misus has the computer tide up.
Thought I'd go for a check 4:30 this morning but it felt abit to cold to go for a swim,
So ended up going to golden beach for a SP flick from the bank and got a couple of nice flatty's 58cm-52cm.
see you in the morning if your keen

Sounds more like an AKFF reunion. Can we go to the pub afterwards? I'm hoping to meet some new faces, including some of the Sunshine Coast crowd.

Weather's good wind-wise, but the lingering swell could provide a few 'challenges', aka schadenfreude footage.

Who knows .... I may be a star after all.

Moffats looked horrible and the car park was fenced off for a triathlon or something. Paulsod and Couta were heading out from kings, which had the odd set of big breakers. We watched Paul get out well but didn't stick around. Trev, Kingdan and myself went to Mooloolaba where the launch was easy. Fishing wise it was dead. Got one nibble and that was it. Trev got an akff first which he cntell you all about, not sure if its HOF worthy though.
Cheers

Well the launching and landing was the exciting part of the trip except one moment when I stupidly came back from Moffats between Brays Rock and the headland.
This one wave broke a little just under me as I crested it. Caught it on video but it doesn't show the size of it. Believe me I was shatting myself when I saw it coming.
Apart from that, not one bite or fish even thought there was a few small Tuna around. Doug (Couta101)said they were mac, feeding on very small baitfish.
Still it was a enjoyable day with the sun shining and some testing moments thrown in.
Cheers
Paul
p.s I saw 2 kayakers go past that looked like they launched from Moffats and Doug met them later and one was Ido (Isobar) and Brad (I think that was the name).
Be interesting to see if they fared any better.

You did well with the timing on the launch Paul. I wimped. How was Douglas's launch?

There were some occasional big waves coming through. As you've read we also got (almost) nothing...

Hall Of Fame without a question! Last March I picked up a big Blue Groper floating in the wash of big surf at Brooms Head (and still just alive). It was my first outing on the Stealth BFS, and my first and only blue groper, caught without a rod.

Today I have broadened my hunter/gatherer skills. While Scott was landing, I had a bit of a play in small surf at the Spit. Just as I pulled off a wave, there floating on the surface was a large (so large it almost didn't fit in the fish hatch), one enormous and still obviously fresh

Here is another shot of it after I'd cleaned it.

My luck in hunter gathering is unlikely to last, so I have decided to turn over a new leaf. From now on I will only pick up fair maidens in distress (I wish) :o .

Hey Paul, it was definitely me and my friend Dave, a 1st timer (one hell of a day I've picked for him  ).
We launched from Moffat, close to the lagoon mouth, where there was a rip current and an exit channel.
Dave swam a few times till I let him ride the Evo ;-)
We managed to land one of these Maccies, apparently not so small one:

Going back was easy as the swell was already dropping.

Cheers,

I was setting up my gear when he turned up. He looked dry, so I am guessing he made it out oK.
