This one wave broke a little just under me as I crested it. Caught it on video but it doesn't show the size of it. Believe me I was shatting myself when I saw it coming.

You did well with the timing on the launch Paul. I wimped. How was Douglas's launch?
There were some occasional big waves coming through. As you've read we also got (almost) nothing...

Hall Of Fame without a question! Last March I picked up a big Blue Groper floating in the wash of big surf at Brooms Head (and still just alive). It was my first outing on the Stealth BFS, and my first and only blue groper,
caught without a rod.
Today I have broadened my hunter/gatherer skills. While Scott was landing, I had a bit of a play in small surf at the Spit. Just as I pulled off a wave, there floating on the surface was a large (so large it almost didn't fit in the fish hatch), one enormous and still obviously fresh

My luck in hunter gathering is unlikely to last, so I have decided to turn over a new leaf. From now on I will only pick up fair maidens in distress (I wish)
