SA Metro Snapper

Postby GlenelgKiller » Wed May 30, 2012 11:25 am

Hey

I'm keen to get out later this week and try and hit some snapper in the Somerton area. It looks like the windows are Thurs evening, Fri evening or Saturday morning. Although the tides aren't great. I would like to try an ocean night fish but not really on my own. Would be great to meet a few more of you and learn from some veterans so if anyone is keen please let me know as I'm fairly flexible.

If no takers I might continue my night pursuit of the elusive mully at the Port. Likely still head out metro Saturday morning though.
Cheers

I live down at Christies Beach and usually head out around there, but I am keen to try around Somerton on this Sat morning. I can head out anytime, but before 9am is best. My email is wardgm@gmail.com if you wanna tee something up. Ps I'm a rookie, and am just trying to catch some squid off a hand reel....but maybe I should just save myself the trouble and head to Barnacle bills! If anyone is ever heading out from Christies then drop me an email.

Hey Meadows. Doesn't look like many takers! I'm going to head out from Glenelg at first light and try at the blocks north of the jetty first up. If nothing happening then I will work my way back to out front of the Broadway Kiosk. You are more than welcome to meet up with me at either of those spots. Let me know and I will keep an eye out for you.
Cheers

Ok I will launch from the beach at glenelg north at 645am ish tomorrow. Unless you suggest somewhere better as I have no idea where the best place to launch from is. I will hang around just north of the jetty and keep eye open. I think I know the blocks you mean. Greg

Hey. Tough place to launch actually, I only do because it's next to my house so I don't have to load up the car. Best option would be to launch at the ramp in front of the Broadway Kiosak at Glenelg South and paddle across. Much, much easier! I have the red tarpon as pictured. What colour are you? I will be bottom banging for snapper with bait so will be anchored up initially
Cheers

Trolling just south go the glenelg jetty, with the rod jammed under my ass, as I don't have a rod holder yet. Was using a lure, one of those ones that sit 2 mts down. It was blue, which the guy from the fish shop said snook like. Hopefully more pics to come!
