Now a bloke I know has given me a movie on Alby Mangels after hearing of my catamaran building madness.This A.B seems to have been a bit of a legend in the seventies in Oz judging by his mo,some amazing trips in Png and all.What really titivated me was the amount of nubile deck candy he had on board,So I got to thinking what was this blokes secret? There seemed to be agreeable female company for every adventure,surely they were not there to do the cooking ,or maybe things were different back then? Maybe the secret is to grow a porn star tash? I would be interested in what you fellas reckon would be the secret to Alby's success in this day and age.

salti, great films but he was a bit of a reality tv fake.

i heard he once wanted footage of his dog falling out of his $wd and he tossed the poor thing out at speed a few times til he got the right shot.

i think he used to co promote with young models who wanted some movie exposure.
i think he crashed his 4wd fairly badly in africa and left some beautiful babe with a fractured skull in the care of some local witch doctor so he could carry on adventuring.

i'm also pretty sure he took belinda green who was miss australia on a trip and she is now the bird on one of those morning shows.

Chicks like wild boys (at least in the short term) and Alby essentially did what he wanted and lived the life. Salti, go for it! Only problem is that every boofhead now videos their adventures and puts them on youtube so it's not new anymore.

If only that "nubile deck candy" or "young models" had always been the age of consent, he would have got a lot more of a following.

As the father of two daughters nowadays, I call this guy for the grubby piece of work he was. Just my opinion.

Malcolm Douglass's adventures were great watching with what appeared to be a limit of BS to go with it.

The man himself came to my primary school in the '70's promoting his film "World Safari" and I can't remember any babes being with him but then again all girls had germs back then so they would have been a lossed cause.. It must have been between 1975 -77 and I'm sure we must have looked up to him as some sort of hero but going by all the stories over the years he was a bit of sleaze bag. I must admit though having a skimpily clad young thing lean over the bow to gaff a fish for you would have made all the "hardships" they "faced" (albeit set up) worth it. Cheers Pat.
