GOOD FISHING KAYAKS

Postby jaytee102 » Fri May 11, 2012 6:34 pm

I have not yet bought a kayak, but have been looking for a few months now. Mostly I have been looking at 'Viking Kayaks'. I have been successful in finding a lot of yaks that I like, but most are out of my price range. Could I please have some suggestions on good quality, easy to paddle fishing kayaks around the $1000 price mark give or take about $100. Cheers :D

Hi JT and welcome. The usual questions will be asked of you. Where will you use it? Rivers? Lakes? creeks? Ocean? What will you target mainly and how? How big are you? Will you have to paddle far to get to your fishing grounds?

If you can put up that info it will help point you in the right direction.

Cheers, Indie.

Thanks Indie.
I am looking to use my yak in the ocean and rivers. As I am a teenager, my weight is about 50kg. I'm looking for something I can paddle quite far. I do have an electric motor with 28lb of thrust, maybe I could get a rig for it?

Cheers.

Jaytee,

I don't want to sound intimidating but this question gets asked all the time here and the answers are readily available for all to see in these pages. Check out the search button top right as a start mate.

On a limited budget, you would probably be better buying a good well fitted out kayak second hand rather than a new cheapie.
