I love a great story like that, well done all the effort paid off. Your not the first to have to swim in at the creek but when the swell is up it does offer some hope of getting out. :D :D

No way was luck involved, pure skills and thrills!
Well done man! About the only thing I can do over the side of the yak without tipping is spew, let alone reach in and tail a massive fish like that. Top report too.

As all said before, great catch and great post. Excellent. I can just imagine you telling this story in a few years and getting howled down - what a fishy story! lucky you got the pics to prove it.

Cracking read mate, and a very well caught fish.
Initiative like that deserved a great result, and a thumping pedro is more than fitting.
Top stuff, enjoy the feed - maccas for dinner ;)

Great fish Ash!

I think I passed you on the way in when you were rigging up that morning.

I'm secretly very jealous, I still haven't managed to get myself a spanish!

Once the line was "broken", the fish had earned its freedom, so personally I think you should go down in the records (somewhere) as the only bloke has ever caught a spanish mackeral by hand without bait or lure - don't let the truth get in the way of a good story!

BTW, well done!!!
