VIC-Aspendale Gardens, yet to catch a fish...

Postby lemoose » Thu Apr 19, 2012 8:37 pm

Hi all,

Only been kayak fishing for a few months. Still haven't caught anything except for a Toady that seemed the headbutt my hook...

So far mainly been trying Patterson lakes and river. I've also tried Lake Eildon in Bonniedoon.

At the moment only using light spinning tackle with lures.

I'd appriecate any tips at all!

Cheers

Welcome mate.

I'm certainly no expert so I'm not going to start spouting advice but I must say that you have excellent taste in kayaks.

Don't be rude to our new members eric. He most certainly has excellent taste and is already ahead of you in the fish department.

I retired after the Kingfish. Or the Frigate Mackeral. Dunno.

But I have a Stealth now, I'm too sexy for fish.

first what are you trying to target - patto has bream as a main target fish
I'm not an expert on PPB and dont fish that pond offen prefuring to fish WP

early snapper season I head to Rickets Pt just down the road from you a lot of yak guys do to pick up some good size snapper on SPs
other than that I fish more at Mornington there are a couple of launching spots
I head there for bait ( squid ) and to get a few flat head after work when daylight saving is on

most of the vic kayak fishos that I know that fish down your way dont seam to post on here to much
and I know a lot are members

I've mainly been trolling ecogear sx40 for bream, no luck, nearly hooked a Salmon but it shook free.

Maybe have better luck june-August.

I figure now its cooling down , I'll try Lake Eildon again for Trout. Thinking of trolling tassie devils and rapala F09.

What do yous reckon?

I don't fish for bream but in the Patterson, I'd either go vibes or small plastics on light darter jigs close to structure. For trout in tassies or Rapalas although I tend to start with F5s or ULM6s.

If common sense was common, there would be more of it!
