I went out this morning from just before 6 til just after 11. Caught 1 squire about 44 and a shark. No real bites or hits other than those 2 hookups. Tried from in front of basketball court, launch point to the shields st green beacon and back.

Might sleep in tomorrow and hit brays or noosa on monday.
Cheers

Hope you guys got onto a few. Got Stuck on the south side with relatives. Listening to boring stories and people arguing is much more enjoyable than fishing.
Cheers,

Our party of five got nothing but a couple of tiddlers. Nice morning but very quite fish-wise.

Donut, but enjoyed paddling down to the Redcliffe Jetty, in the 12 - 18 knot Southerly. A bit more flab burned off! Yes.

Coming back I saw birds into bait about a km off Osbourne Pt, and went chasing several of these for about an hour. Saw the predators a few times but not certain if they were small longtails or tailor (not the characteristic chopping splash that tailor make).

When I got back around midday the 20 odd kayaks had all disappeared.

Didn't you lot see a white-haired athletic slob paddling south into the wind at 7 am? Nobody said hello to me. Anyway, why did you all pack it in when it got up to 15 knots? Was it cause you were sick of catching fish? :D

Love to know what was in those bait balls (the predators). They wouldn't touch a small slug or SPs.

Looking good for the next few months, especially after the longtails turning up at Noosa.

How many boats were out there? I have a dislike for the ignorant pricks that get out there and prefer to fish here only when it's a bit quieter. BTW I fish nowhere near the reef either, but the first boat that sees you hooked up comes screaming over and tries to fish on top of your spot without fail.

I fished (paddled) Noosa today and saw only about 4 boats and they were blasting off to some where further out and nowhere near where I was fishing, it was great!

Unfortunately it was a complete contrast to the Saturday that Sunshiner reported. The whole bay was lifless with green water and hardly a bird to be seen. I paddled 12.7klm at an average speed of 4.5kph trolling two lures for one brief hook up before it spat the lure. I did see one bust up of what looked to be small mack tuna or possibly even stripies or bonito (definately not longtails) but they sounded just seconds before I put my first cast in. I did hit a top speed of 9kph when heading towards them though. The paddle back from Little Halls was into a constant SE wind of 10-15kts so was certainly a work out and good to get out into open water again and start building up some paddle fitness after months of other committments and missed opportunites due to the weather.

Will get back to Scarby again after the Easter rush settles and the fish feel it's safe to head back into shallow water without a hundred outboards buzzing around just 5 meters above their heads.

Also interested to hear how you went fishing the ledge Ron?

I hit Queens beach this morning at 5am and drifted the outer banks there. Had the place to myself for an hour then a boat thundered straight over the top of the patch in order to fish for bream around the green bouy, missed me by about 15m i guess at WOT. I was fully lit up, so no excuse from that turd.
Anyways I boated one flathead about 55cm, one tailor about 40cm and one squire about 45cm, all went back to grow some more.

I suspect by the numbers of guys to the north I was too far south as I was paddling back??? Remarkably dead from previous sessions in the same area.
No point being a tight arse when shitting is the objective.

Stunning day on the water today! About 20 or so boats out around Otter Rock. One boat fishing wayyyy inside the green zone, good to see most people doing the right thing.

Of course, the 13 trawlers dragging their nets between 1 & 2 kms off Scarborough beach (see photo) is probably doing a world of good for the fishing....

Gavin

Re the trawlers, talk to Jimbo (Beekeeper) about Sunfish's work in this area.

I've seen them several times going through the yellow zone between 'the beacon' and 'the blinker'. Is this legal?
