Welcome, I live up in Noosa and also have a Hobie Outback and find that it is a great yak. I take it offshore when the weather is favourable and the best thing I like about it is the stability it has. Its not the best in the surf but once you've practised launching and returning it alright. If your looking for someone to go with go onto the Noosa Yakkers Website and send the a meesage, they with help you out with everything.

Welcome to the site. A drogue makes life a lot easier offshore. It will slow your drift so that you can fish the reefs more effectively with both baits and plastics. I use mine just about every time i get in the yak offshore. The Noosa Yakkers are a friendly bunch of blokes and a really good place to start your offshore adventures. An email through the contact us section is a great place to start. Alternatively, keep your eye on the trips section on here and you'll see blokes posting trips out to Bray's at Caloundra fairly regularly. It's an easy spot to get to with good fish on the surrounding reefs.
Cheers,

Jon

Norman,

By choosing the right launch location and the right day to do it, you can almost negate the "surf launch" on the sunny coast. The spit at M'Ba is a good spot, Moffats beach and wade out a little bit before you jump on, Kings Beach at the northern end in a NE'er, Middle Groyne at Noosa. It takes a little bit of getting used to but you'll find there are a few places that you can get out in the briny without the fear on crunching all your gear. If you are unsure, then de-rig, put everything in/on the yak so you don't break it and paddle like crazy!!!
Cheers,

Jon

Maybe you are not into fresh water, but I wonder if there may be a few bass in Baroon Pocket?
Haven't up there recently, but sometimes you can have some fun.... :)

Its always good to carry a sea anchor on your yak. I and a few Noosa yakkers I know use one of those Coles reusable material bags tied to some rope as a sea anchor.
