I currently own a blue tarpon 140 and I'm very happy with it. It's fast, has good fishability, stable, tracks well, is easily rigged, good seat and looks sexy. It has a few shortcomings. I'm tall so anything on the slide tax is getting in the way with my paddling or if I mount it right at the front it's out of reach for me. Also the centre hatch is to small to put big tackle boxes in and to store rods for surf launches I generally have to take the reels off.
I went to the Brisbane tinnie and tackle show yesterday and they are selling the Ocean Kayak Prowler Ultra 4.3 for $1899.
+ I can get it in mango colour which makes me better visabil
+ big centre hatch to store all my gear
+ rod tube inside for storing rods trough the surf
+ transducer mount underneath. Easy mount, water temperature and it even fits side image transducers if I ever upgrade
+ turnable lid. I can mount all my gear like fish finder, grips, pliers, gaff on the lid and simply turn it over for the surf
+ lots of attachment points. No more drilling of holes
+ six rod holders to move stuff around
+ skeg to drag the yak over sand
Would this one be as fast as the tarpon? And how does it handle the surf?
There is a similar thread at viewtopic.php?f=4&t=53863 but it's comparing the 4.1 which is quit different. I do think this yak has a few advantages over the tarpon, but I would like to hear comments from other people.
