Trip Suggestions required from SEQ

G'day,
Not sure if it's the right forum for this one (not a 'trip' purse) Rather advice on where to go for a short break.
Going with the wife, and taking the yak. Will travel up to 7hrs from gold coast. So that's basically anywhere in-between Bundaberg and South West Rocks or inland. I'd like to stop in the 1 spot for a few days before heading back. And i'd like some kayak friendly fishing wherever i end up.
Wife will fish, but not all the time, so other activities/facilities would be preferred. Happy (more than) to camp.
Travel distance is a guide only, and obviously less is better, but seeing my severe lack of knowledge of good camp/fishing locations in this region i'm looking for advice from the experts (AKFF)
I'm sure similar topics have been covered before, and am happy to be pointed to a thread if one already exists...

One hint, though I don't know what your mrs is like, make sure she gets equal attention to the kayak fishing otherwise the kayak may not be so welcome next time....I know from experience!

I realise it's an hour north of Bundy but I am not sure if you saw this thread I started about 1770:

I am still working out holiday approval with work etc but since I am looking for June/July I'll probably head a bit further north for a bit more warmth but 1770 is definately on my to do list at some point. If you're travelling before the end of April/Early may the weather shouldn't be too cool that a dip in the ocean shrinks your jewels.

I think you should go there on a recon mission for me

Northern NSW in the warmer months or head north in winter.

Woody Head is an excellent stop off if you want to get to South West Rocks......Infact I never seem to get much past it. Plenty of kayak fishing options. Creeks, rivers and open water.

Cheers guys. This is a next week trip, so weather is still ok in NSW and QLD don't really mind either way. Woody head sounds alright. Not confident enough to go ocean yet, but still looks like there's some inshore options.

Mate Woody Head is great.
There is some great rock pools in front of the camp ground you can snorkel in. There is nice big and little beaches up to the mouth of the Clarence. Iliuka is 10mins away and if that's too small you can drive or catch the ferry to Yamba.
You can fish the Clarence and its many tributaries, the little cove next to the camp ground is pretty safe if the wind is from the south. If you have a 4X4 you drive up the beach to Black Rock where there is a small little land locked creek.
If you drive to Yamba you can head a few k's further south and get to Angourie.......plenty to see and do I want to come to.

Head west mate and chase some Cod in the Border rivers out around Texas / Tenterfield kind of areas.
Plenty of great camping spots out there.
Way less than 7 hours from the Goldy and something diferent.

baffle creek isnt too bad, just make sure its not going to rain heaps or you might get flooded in....
Its about an hr past bundy, theres heaps of different places around where you can fish off the bank too, as well as beach access being about a k down the road
theres a caravan park you can camp in or if you have a 4x4 you can camp out on the beach at the mouth of baffle.

Urunga is nice, about 20k south of Coffs

Lots of options
